Dynamic Dog

Why Dynamic Dog?

I knew something was wrong for more than two years before Freya started limping.

We were making progress on her reactivity, but something still seemed off… she was less confident running around the forest, more guarded around other dogs, more hesitant in training sessions. She stopped settling in the car and refused to walk on shiny floors. Even as a behaviour professional, I struggled to advocate for my dog at the vet based on these small clues alone.

Eventually, Freya's pain started to show in more obvious ways, and she was finally able to access diagnosis and treatment. I became a Dynamic Dog Practitioner to streamline the process of giving your vet the information they need, so that you and your dog don't have to wait years for the relief you deserve.

A Dynamic Dog Assessment joins the dots between your dog’s behaviour, their movement and their overall wellbeing. I identify early signs of discomfort that are easy to miss, and translate them into language your veterinarian can use.

Is your dog in pain?

Pain does not always look like limping or yelping.

Pain is complex, and health concerns are surprisingly hard to spot. Your dog can’t tell you in words when something feels off; their behaviour is often the first hint that something needs your attention, long before there are clear physical signs.

Over and over, I see a familiar pattern with my training clients: behaviour challenges that point to something happening beneath the surface. Even when pain isn’t the direct cause of a behaviour challenge, it can play a role. Pain makes it harder for dogs to learn, lowers their tolerance for stress, and shortens their fuse.

Dogs often push through the pain for exciting things like fetch, a long hike or the zoomies, but seem less motivated for other routine activities.

Common signs of possible health concerns:

  • ANY sudden or unexplained behaviour changes

  • Sensitivity to touch, sound or temperature

  • Unpredictable conflict or snappiness

  • Reluctance to jump, walk or get up from rest

  • Avoiding stairs or certain surfaces

  • Anxiety and separation distress

  • Difficulty settling or disturbed sleep

  • Possessiveness over people, objects and spaces

  • Frequent licking, chewing or scratching

What to expect

Your Dynamic Dog report is the bridge between what you see at home and what your veterinarian evaluates in the clinic.

Dogs often mask signs of physical discomfort, especially in unfamiliar situations like veterinary exams. Dynamic Dog assesses your dog moving and behaving naturally in their everyday environment.

Deep Dive

We begin with an in-depth consultation discussing every aspect of your dog’s history, behaviour and lifestyle.

Data Gathering

I guide you to collect photos and videos of your dog’s daily activities for me to analyze. I look for easy-to-miss signs of discomfort across your dog’s movement, posture and behaviour.

Veterinary Report

I compile a report highlighting clear patterns and key observations for your veterinarian, so that they can diagnose any underlying health issues and your dog can access the  support they need.

During the assessment process, I’ll suggest modifications to your home and routine to limit unwanted behaviours and reduce stress and discomfort.

After your assessment

As a Dynamic Dog Practitioner and trainer, I’m just one part of your dog’s multidisciplinary team.

Physical support

You’ll continue working with your veterinarian and other health professionals to support your dog’s physical wellbeing. I cannot make diagnoses or recommend specific medications or treatments.

Behaviour support

Addressing physical discomfort tends to make training much easier, but it rarely makes unwanted behaviours disappear altogether.

Your Dynamic Dog Assessment includes short-term management recommendations. Thereafter, I’m happy to provide ongoing private training. However, if you’re already working with a force-free professional that’s a good fit for you, there's no pressure to switch.

Certain challenges may also benefit from specialist trainer or certified behaviour consultant, and I’ll do my best to connect you with the right support for your needs.
